In these terms, “we” means JST Kart Shop LTD, “you” means the adult making the booking, and “driver” means the person taking part.
The person booking must be aged 18 or over. Bookings for children must be made by a parent, legal guardian or an adult authorised by them.
2. Booking and payment
Full payment is required when booking. Your booking is accepted when we send your booking confirmation.
Please check the date, circuit, package, kart category and driver details carefully. Contact us promptly if anything is incorrect.
Provide accurate information about the driver’s age, height, weight, experience and any relevant support needs. Changes to the driver, category or date must be agreed with us.
If we cannot accept your booking, we will refund any payment taken. We will not increase the price of an accepted booking simply because our costs have increased.
3. Prices and what is included
Experience prices include VAT and circuit fees.
Your booking includes the kart, preparation, fuel, oil, tyres, mechanical support, briefing and guidance or coaching described for your chosen package.
A dedicated kart is allocated to the named driver. It is not shared with another experience customer during their booked course. The circuit will normally be shared with other drivers.
Personal safety equipment, meals, travel, accommodation and the Motorsport UK ARKS starter pack are not included.
Optional extras will be priced before you agree to purchase them. Equipment-damage costs may apply in the circumstances explained in section 13.
4. Packages and timetable
- Taster Day: four driving sessions, approximately 10 laps per session.
- Experience Day: six driving sessions, approximately 10 laps per session.
- ARKS Training & Test: the driving sessions, preparation and assessment described on the booking page.
The usual timetable is:
- 08:30: arrival, sign-on and safety-equipment checks.
- 08:45: kart familiarisation and seat/pedal adjustments.
- 09:15: briefing and track walk, where circuit access permits.
- 10:00: track scheduled to open.
- Approximately 15:00: Taster Day finishes.
- Approximately 16:00: Experience Day finishes.
Please follow any different timings expressly stated in your booking confirmation.
Sessions normally run around the circuit’s class rotations, with breaks for feedback, rest and kart preparation. Attendance time is not continuous driving time.
Session times, lap counts and finishing times are approximate. Weather, flags, circuit stoppages and driver progress may affect the running order. If a substantial part of your course cannot be provided, section 10 applies.
5. Kart categories and driver suitability
Our experience categories are:
- Honda Cadet: ages 8-12.
- Micro Max: ages 8-10.
- Inter Max: ages 10-12.
- Junior Rotax: ages 13-15.
- Senior Rotax: ages 16 and over.
Age means the driver’s age on the event date. These are experience-booking categories, rather than confirmation of eligibility for a particular racing championship.
Drivers must fit safely in the kart, reach and operate its controls, and understand and follow safety instructions. Age alone does not guarantee suitability.
Contact us before booking if you are unsure about fit, experience or additional support needs. We will discuss reasonable adjustments where appropriate.
If accurate information supplied before booking shows that we cannot provide a suitable kart or agreed adjustment, we will offer an acceptable alternative or a full refund. If important information was omitted or incorrect, any payment retained will be limited to reasonable unrecovered losses.
6. Personal safety equipment
Drivers must bring their own helmet, race suit, gloves and suitable karting boots or other footwear expressly approved by JST and the circuit. Safety equipment is not supplied.
Equipment must fit correctly, be in serviceable condition and meet the requirements for the driver, kart category and venue. We will explain the applicable requirements before payment, including any additional protection required.
Contact us if you need help checking equipment. Do not assume that a motorcycle helmet, ordinary clothing or everyday footwear will be accepted.
We may refuse participation if equipment is unsafe or unsuitable. We will try to find a practical solution, but replacement equipment is not guaranteed.
Where a driver cannot participate because they have not brought equipment whose requirements were clearly explained, any payment retained will reflect reasonable unrecovered losses. If we supplied incorrect requirements, we will provide an appropriate remedy.
7. Children, health and conduct
For drivers under 18, a parent or legal guardian must attend, remain at the venue and complete the required consent information. Any alternative accompanying-adult arrangement must be agreed in advance and accepted by the circuit.
Tell us privately before booking about any condition, injury, medication effect or support need that could affect safe participation. If unsure whether karting is medically suitable, obtain appropriate medical advice.
Drivers must:
- Attend the briefing and safety checks.
- Follow flags and instructions from JST and circuit staff.
- Wear the required safety equipment.
- Drive with reasonable care.
- Report collisions, faults or damage immediately.
- Stop if unwell or unable to continue safely.
Driving under the influence of alcohol, illegal drugs or medication that impairs safe control is prohibited.
We or the circuit may stop participation where there is a reasonable safety concern. Reckless driving, deliberate contact, ignoring safety instructions or threatening behaviour may result in removal. Any refund assessment will consider the service provided and reasonable losses caused, without removing your legal rights.
8. Customer cancellations
Email info@jstkartshop.com, giving your booking reference, driver’s name and event date.
Notice is measured from when your email reaches our inbox to the scheduled arrival time, using UK local time and complete 24-hour periods.
| Notice before the event | Cancellation arrangements |
|---|---|
| At least 31 complete days | Full refund |
| At least 14 but fewer than 31 complete days | At least 50% refunded; maximum deduction of 50% |
| Fewer than 14 complete days | Maximum deduction of 100% |
These are maximum deductions, not automatic charges. Any amount retained must reasonably reflect losses directly caused by cancellation. We will account for costs saved, replacement bookings and other recoveries, and take reasonable steps to reduce our losses.
Contact us promptly if illness or an emergency prevents attendance. We will consider practical alternatives, but a transfer or refund outside these arrangements is not guaranteed. Nonattendance is assessed under the same reasonable-loss principles.
Bookings for leisure activities on a specific date generally do not carry the usual 14-day online cooling-off right. This does not affect any statutory cancellation right that applies to your particular purchase.
9. Changing your date or driver
You may move your booking once without a date-change fee, provided you give at least 14 complete days’ notice.
The replacement date is subject to availability and must be agreed with JST Competition. There is no fixed six-month rebooking deadline.
Any agreed increase in course price must be paid before the replacement booking is confirmed. A lower price will be refunded.
If we cannot agree a suitable replacement date, you may cancel under the notice band applicable when you first requested the change.
Further changes, or requests made with less than 14 days’ notice, will be considered individually. Any additional charge must be explained, agreed and limited to reasonable additional costs or unrecovered losses.
Moving a date does not reset cancellation entitlement. If you subsequently cancel, we use the shorter notice band arising from the original change request and the later cancellation. Deductions remain subject to the reasonable-loss limit in section 8.
You may request a replacement driver. We must confirm their suitability, category and kart availability before they attend. There is no JST name-change fee, although an agreed category price difference may apply.
10. Changes, weather and interrupted events
Outdoor karting normally proceeds in rain and cold weather where the circuit considers it safe. Poor weather alone does not mean your booking is cancelled. Check with us before deciding not to attend.
Unsafe conditions, circuit closure or significant mechanical problems may require a postponement or cancellation.
If we cancel your whole course before it starts, you may choose an available replacement date or a full refund. You do not have to accept a voucher or credit.
If we propose a substantial change to the date, circuit or course, you may accept it or cancel for a full refund. Minor timetable changes or a suitable equivalent replacement kart will not normally be substantial changes.
If the day is interrupted, we will first try to resume safely, repair the kart or provide a suitable alternative.
Where a substantial part of your course cannot be delivered, we will offer an appropriate solution, such as completing the outstanding part on another agreed date without an additional course fee, or an appropriate refund or price reduction. Your statutory rights remain unaffected.
Normal flags, delays and class rotations do not remove your rights where a substantial part of the purchased service is not provided.
If the driver chooses to stop while the agreed course remains safely available, the cancellation and reasonable-loss principles apply to the unused portion.
11. Late arrival
Allow enough time to arrive for sign-on. Contact us as soon as possible if delayed.
No driver may enter the circuit without completing the necessary briefing and safety checks.
We will try to accommodate late arrivals where practical, but missed sessions cannot always be added or the finishing time extended. Any retained payment will reflect the service provided and reasonable unrecovered losses.
12. ARKS Training & Test
An ARKS booking includes the training and assessment described on its booking page. It does not guarantee a pass or the issue of a competition licence.
Drivers must purchase the Motorsport UK karting starter pack separately before the test, study its training material, and bring the required application paperwork and documents.
The starter pack is not included in the JST course price. Motorsport UK states that the pack includes the first Kart Inter Club competition licence fee, subject to its application requirements.
The examiner assesses whether the driver meets the required standard. Motorsport UK determines licence applications.
If missing paperwork or driver readiness prevents assessment, we will explain the available options. Extra training or retests are not included unless expressly stated; any further costs will be quoted before agreement.
Failure to pass does not itself entitle you to a refund where the agreed training and assessment were properly provided.
If we cannot provide the advertised assessment because an examiner is unavailable, section 10 applies.
13. Kart damage
Small bumps and minor incidents can happen while learning. Normal wear and tear, minor cosmetic marks and routine mechanical failures are not charged to the driver.
Major incidents may incur equipment-damage costs. A major incident or expensive repair does not, by itself, establish that the driver is responsible.
We may seek a reasonable contribution for significant damage caused by deliberate misuse, reckless or negligent driving, or failure to follow clear safety instructions.
We will consider the circumstances, including the driver’s age, experience, instructions received, equipment condition and any contribution from other people.
Before requesting payment, we will explain the basis of the claim and provide relevant evidence and an itemised repair or replacement cost. We will account for existing wear, appropriate depreciation, insurance recoveries and contributions from others.
We will not charge for upgrading equipment, recover the same loss twice, or automatically charge the full replacement cost of a kart.
Disputed damage costs will not automatically be debited from a stored payment card. You will have an opportunity to question the evidence and amount claimed.
Nothing in this section makes a parent or guardian automatically responsible for damage simply because they attended or signed a consent form.
14. Liability, problems and refunds
Motorsport involves inherent risks, including loss of control, collisions and injury. Acknowledging those risks does not waive your legal rights. We will provide our services with reasonable care and skill.
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud, fraudulent misrepresentation, or any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.
Please raise problems with the JST event lead promptly so we have an opportunity to put them right. If unresolved, email info@jstkartshop.com with your booking reference and details.
Agreed refunds will be issued without undue delay and within 14 calendar days of agreement, unless the law requires an earlier deadline. Refunds normally use the original payment method.
English law applies without removing mandatory consumer protections or rights to bring proceedings in another UK jurisdiction where applicable.
The version of these terms supplied when your booking is accepted applies to that booking. Later website updates do not retrospectively change your agreement.
These terms do not affect your statutory rights.
